Fall 50 for under $50

Thanks to yahoo! news and Pop Sugar they put together a list of falls top 50 items for $50 or under.  Which is great for me who is currently unemployed but looking to revamp my wardrobe.  Of course number 1 is the LBD which Zara has done for this fall.   It also seems like kitten heels are making their comeback this fall.  These are great wardrobe items and serve a great purpose for interviews.  And lets not forget statement necklaces (which of course I sell at my boutique) which can wake up any outfit no matter how mundane.  So click the link to see the slide show that popsugar put together.  Also dont forget to check out my e-boutique and I was featured again on dearandi.com again! Man i <3 her="" lol="">

Noƫlz Designer Resale

So while working in DUMBO the other week i came across a great little shop located at  145 front st. Its called Noelz closet and he specializes in designer resale.  Its a consignment shop and its all about luxury brands.  There are the Christian Louboutin shoes, Prada bags, and of course possibly some of my jewelry will be featured.  The shop is located towards the back of the building and he is opening a space next to him that will do customer printed shirts (of course I have some ideas on shirts that I want).  Everything within the shop is in pristine condition and displayed in a simple presentation (so not as to distract from the awesomeness that he is selling).  So when your in the area stop in and tell him Jessica sent you.  Have designer goods you want to sell?  Call the shop at 917-624-5043 this man knows what hes dealing with and is on point.

A bit of randomness

so I feel like its been some time since I actually wrote anything on my blog lol.  Please forgive the recent polyvore obsession so I apologize.  I've also been super focused on my boutique and trying to generate sales since a sistah doesn't have a steady source of income.

It appears that summer is in full effect (hello 85+ weather) which means that I hate being sweaty as much as the next person.  During summer my hair is always up as its to hot to have it down laying against my neck.  Pants, im not understanding why women think dresses are great.  If your thighs touch like mines, nothing is worse than chub rub and heat rash.  So I personally stick to pants and loose tops.  I also realized that after last night that maybe its time to give up the heels.  Stop, I know your shaking your head but hear me out.  I wore my heels last night for a networking event which required about 30 minutes of standing and dear god my feet were hurting.  maybe its because im  not dressing up for work anymore and I need to retrain my feet, but I couldn't get to my car fast enough to change into flats.  So im thinking that its time to accept my age and gracefully move into flats.

Fashion Mavens

So I've been thinking about the women who drive my personal style and the I would love to emulate.  many women come to mind naturally first is my mother who always encouraged me to wear what I wanted (and I'm sure there were times that she regretted that lol), my aunt Theresa who is the embodiment of bohemian chic, my grandmother on my stepdads side who was casual chic, and im sure I can continue.  As I got older of course my tastes changed and I wen through various phases.  As a adult there are three women that I love their style and they drive me to want to dress better.  Iris Apfel who in her golden years is designing jewelry, doing various collaborations and has a bohemian uptown aesthetic.  Of course Daphne Guinness who takes extreme risks and is the embodiment of haute couture.  And last but not least a friend of mine Keda whose street style effortless blends hightops with thick gold chains to heels and snapbacks.  As a female we go through so many incarnations in style and all of these women have helped shaped my style sense over the years.  So to all the people that have shaped and continue to help my style evolve thanks!

who inspires you?

Need some cheap swag?

Looking for some trendy items to work into your wardrobe? Then check out Target. Not only do they do fashion collabs but even their in house items are pretty fab. Of course neon is one of the biggest trends and they have that covered with scarves, belts and even work out wear. Plus the accessories are fun and reasonably priced. They had a cute faux leather mossimo bag and look at the belt selection! So the next time your looking for a quick fix check out Target.

Real Street Fashion

So since I have started blogging and following various "fashionistas"and "street style" I have noticed that I feel I have unrealistic expectations of what my everyday fashion should be. Now I’m not knocking these lovely ladies, as lord knows that they are my inspiration to get up every day and put my best face/foot forward, but sometimes I’m like everyday people don’t dress like this. I commute everyday for work, and I'll be dammed if I’m wearing heels to walk to and from the train to work. Like most women I wear sneakers and change at work. I often look at these pictures and wish that I was smaller, or taller, or had a better job to afford name brands. I wish that I could be that woman in heels standing at the trainstation or walking down the cobble stone streets on Soho. But I’m not, I’m an everyday girl who wears sneakers to work, dresses in a mix of name brands and sample sale items, who works a 9 to 5. So what does that mean? It means that I take what I see from these other bloggers and try to interpret it for me. I know that some trends don’t work for my body (i.e. peplum ::shivers:: I am a 40DDD, doesn’t look good on me) but I try to show what an everyday working girl interprets as fashion. I hope that you like what I post and you too take some inspiration from what I write about. Like most women I have a complicated relationship with my body image, but I am at a place where I feel good about how I look overall and I know that for being 32 I am pretty damn sexy. As women we are given unrealistic expectations about what beauty should be from mainstream media and allow it to shape how we see ourselves. So ladies I ask that you step back take a deep breath and focus on what you find sexy, be it your dimples when you smile, your shoulders, or the crease in your elbow. But take a moment and realize that you are sexy and no one else should ever define that for you.

Enough of my soap box, but here are some things that inspire me to look good everyday and make the effort. So follow and read fashion posts, blogs, videos and tell me how you interpret it for you.  And thanks to google  and fashionclimaxx for providing me with pictures :)  Like I said these pics inspire me to be better dressed everyday, so thanks to all the fashion bloggers.
